About Me

Emily Dewar
BA(Hons), PGCE, PGCert SEN, Level 7 SpLD, ATS, ADG, PATOSS, Dyslexia Guild APC

I trained as a Level 7 specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor with Dyslexia Action. I have a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) from Dyslexia Guild.

I began my training as a specialist dyslexia teacher eight years ago because of a strong interest in special needs provision. I also have some close family members who are dyslexic so have direct personal experience of the challenges but also the strengths of having dyslexia.

I currently work in a local specialist dyslexia school. I am a Specialist Assessor and Teacher in The Prep school. I also do 1:1 intervention throughout the year groups (Year 3 – Sixth Form).

I am now able to offer assessments privately and can carry out full diagnostic assessments and exam access arrangement assessments. I assess for pupils in primary, secondary, college and those who need them for University courses. I’m afraid that I do not assess adults who need recommendations for the workplace.

A diagnostic assessment will provide a detailed picture of how an individual processes information, identifying both strengths and challenges and providing recommendations for moving forwards.

I live in Battle and cover all of the surrounding areas. Please get in touch if you would like to chat about an assessment for your child, or for yourself, and any questions you may have.
